High blood-sugar over time can lead to complications, like neuropathy, blindness, kidney failure, and death, so it is important to control blood-sugar to prevent this from happening. Temperature has very little to do with diabetes, except that fever sometimes indicates an infection, which would be more dangerous for diabetics than everyone else.

i know my blood sugar is high and not low because when i get like this i’ve been checking it. My sugar level is high but i feel like i need to eat something so that the feelings i have go away. Those feelings are tiredness, dizziness, jittery, shaking, headache, and hard to focus. The feelings dont leave until i have had something to correct the feeling. What could this be?
how do you know your sugar is high and not low? how often do you check it? what are the exact values? what does your endocrinologist have to say about this issue? this is such a strange scenario and sounds like it could be somatic.

My mom and 5 other siblings have high blood sugar Diabetes I on the other hand have several times felt weak dizzy shaky confused like i was gonna pass out and trow up. Two times it was around my mom so she checked my sugar level and it was 54 then 42 on two different occasions but it has only happened 20 times in 21 years. I have had sugar test at docs but it was fine but I also felt fine. What do I do?
I would think it could be pre-diabetes.. my mom had it for years.. she would always tell me that if she passed out that her blood sugar was low but didn’t have diabetes. Now about 5 years ago she was diagnosed with Type 1.. I was diagnosed with it 7 years ago, but would have low blood sugars for a couple months before I started having high blood sugars. Go to an endocrin doctor and explain to him, he may want to start you on a diet because diabetes runs in your family.

In short; it takes sugar/glucose from you’re blood and gives it to parts of you’re body that needs it.

Recently diagnosed type 2. had too much sugar today. Slept 3 hours, feel groggy and sluggish. my back hurts. are these symptoms of high blood sugar and are there anymore symptoms?
I’ve bee diabetic for almost 20 years, and I hate to correct a "paramedic" but sleepiness/grogginess is definitely a symptom of hyperglycemia. All of the symptoms you have listed are signs. I have lower back problems, and it hurts a lot worse if my sugars are high. Nausea, vomiting, increased sensitivity to pain… all of em.
Do you see an Endocrinologist regularly? They would be the best person to talk to about this sort of information, as well as managing your diabetes in general.
Cheers and best of health

A coworker of mine was just diagnosed with high blood sugar. Can anyone give me a list of foods that she should avoid?
The important thing in diabetes is not so much as the foods to avoid but their fat contents, the way they are prepared and the portions eaten. In fact a healthy meal plan should include the foods one likes and enjoys as long as one takes into consideration one’s daily activities and trying to keep the blood sugar level within normal range. Also one has to be flexible about the meal plans and try to maintain a healthy weight.
Reading the food labels on the purchases is wise because often they contain other sugars, fats, proteins and starches that have calories and can make the blood sugar level go up.
It used to be that diabetics thought they could not eat any more dessert because of the sugar content. This is now considered a myth for although consuming less sugar makes a healthier meal, it is no longer true that one cannot eat anymore desserts. It was believed that eating desserts will cause the blood glucose level to rise more than eating carbohydrates like bread and potatoes.
The truth is that researchers are now finding that sugars like fruits and sucrose and bread and potatoes are digested at the same pace. The bottom line is one can now include foods with sugar in a diabetic meal as long as one considers the number of calories and the carbohydrate content. In this case, foods with sugar content will not be harmful to the blood sugar control but don’t go overboard for it does not have much nutritional value. One should not crowd out the food the body needs to maintain health. So it is not bad to include sugar but it should be in moderation.
Preparing the foods one eats will go along way in making choices as to what to eat. For example, one can reduce the fat in meat by broiling, steaming and roasting rather than frying. One can also buy lean meats or cut the fat that’s visible or use low fat oil when preparing the food. Avoid using coconut, palm and hydrogenated oils.

I’m a type-I diabetic with an insulin pump. I tend to watch what I eat and I check my blood sugar regularly. But sometimes it goes out of control.
Other than taking insulin and exercising (things I do), are there any other techniques or home remedies to keep blood sugar under control?

2 chapters from Dr Bernstein’s book. They should help you with your food planning.
Life is hard, then, we have this thing called diabetes which confuses us in the extreme. It is really hard to get all the elements: food planning, exercise, medications, and sleep all into conformance so we stay fairly level.
Food control keeps the insulins from packing on the carbos in the form of fat on our bods!
