Can you control high blood sugar by not eating a lot?
November 30th, 2009 -- Posted in blood sugar control | 4 Comments »I thought about this and just wondering…
If you dont eat much or eat food with low sugar in them, your body doesn’t take in that much sugar…
I’m also not saying to starve yourself but to watch what you eat.
Depends on the severity of the diabetes and the type. Diet can be a big help. It isn’t the sugars you have to watch so much but the carbohydrates which turn to sugar. Bread, potatoes, starches and so many, many foods turn into sugar in the body and thus raise your blood sugar. Insulin comes from the pancreas so if the pancreas is not functioning properly then the insulin output may not be sufficient to allow the muscle of the body to burn the sugar and thus you have high blood sugar. Like I said, diet can play a huge part in controlling sugar in the blood if you catch the diabetes before it gets to bad. When it is severe, you not only control your carbohydrate intake but need medication also to stimulate the pancreas so it puts out more insulin or insulin itself to make up for the difference in what the pancreas isn’t putting out. Diabetes often acts upon the internal organs and it may be killing you even though you have no ill effects at all.
