Do i have to travel to china? I heard they cure diabetes type 2. If anyone has good information please do share it with me i will be thankful.(I mean to find a good doctor with a good reputation)
There’s a special name for "Alternative" (or "Chinese" if you prefer) medicines which actually work.
They’re called "medicine".
Save your time and money for real treatments.
(Which, in the case of diabetes, are not available at all here in China, where such conditions are observed, clucked over and declared "sickly").

I hear this one scientist found that lettuce could possibly cure diabetes, this guys name is Henry Daniell… has anyone heard about it, I just found out that it was on the news 2 years ago and i never knew a thing about it, until i tried to research about the cure myself… I mean, has anyone heard about any follow ups on that research? and if you want to see it on the news go to youtube and type in "Diabetes cured with lettuce"
The key to curing a disease that affects 21 million people in the U.S. could be found on your dinner table nearly every night.
One University of Central Florida professor may have finally unlocked the code to wipe diabetes completely off the map.
Dr. Henry Daniell and his team of 20 bio-medical researchers have worked for five years, experimenting with genetically modified lettuce and its affect on diabetes patients.
They have come up with what they believe is a cure for diabetes.
"This would be not only a cure, but also an inexpensive cure," Daniell said.
A person with diabetes is sentenced to a lifetime of needles and careful monitoring of their blood sugar levels.
"I believe that it’s going to be a very significant advancement and so far there has been no permanent cure for diabetes," said Daniell. "This is the first time the root cause of the problem, the immune disorder, is tackled."
Genetically modified lettuce is grown in a lab at UCF.
A leaf is placed in a machine and injected with the human gene for insulin.
"We can really be happy that we have made progress that helps a society, especially large numbers of people," said Daniell.
For people living with diabetes, the find is a major breakthrough.
Daniell said he has been stunned by the response from his find.
He’s received thousands of e-mails and phone calls, mostly from Florida residents.
Daniell first tested his insulin-producing lettuce on mice, and the results were shocking.
"By the end of the study, the diabetic mice had normal blood and urine sugar levels," Daniell said. "And their cells were producing normal levels of insulin."
These results occurred after just eight weeks of treatment.
Daniell said if human trials, which are now under way, are successful, it would impact millions of diabetics worldwide and provide a permanent and affordable cure for the disease.
His team has found a way to grind the lettuce down to a fine green powder that can be distributed in the form of a capsule, which helps regulate the dosage.
Daniell is currently conducting clinical trials with a major pharmaceutical company.
If all goes well, this cure for diabetes could be made available to millions of people with diabetes in four years.
Now if you believe this , I have a bridge over here in THAILAND that I would like to sell to you.
Pipe dreams are easily sold to the unwary.

Gastric Bypass surgery ( roux en Y ) has now been proven through long term studies to cure type 2 diabetes in 95 percent of patients. Reported on MSNBC
This is still a "hot topic" in insurance. There are many pros about gastric bypass and lap band intervention, which all are readily published and advocated.
However, insurance carriers are still very doubtful of its ability to be a too quick fix and long-term solution for justifying the cost of the surgery and follow-up care that comes with it as well as the potential of long-term permanent side-effects that can accompany it. Many companies want to see what you, the patient have truly done to make an effort to modify your lifestyle and eating habits prior to any approval. Medicare wants proof of 2 years of attempt of every available diet, nutritional modifications, and even psychological review prior to approval.
Another point of view of the cons is this….
It is now being proven that both are not permanent soltuions for permanent weight loss because many recipients of either surgery have had history of regaining weight, becoming alarmingly overweight, and having difficulty in losing it again. So even with the considerable stomach size reduction, one can still manage to become overweight with improper diet and exercise. This would be viewed by insurance companies as a monetary loss as it did little for long-term prevention.
Unfortunately, even after intervention surgery, it still comes down to self-control, behavior and eating modification, and life style changes involving exercise too.
NOTE: This question would probably best responded to in surveys & polls or health instead of insurance. Most insurance questions asked are regarding defintion of coverages or how to best use the insurance
EDIT ADD: Both of these surgeries should be viewed as the possibility of offering a quick fix to helping a person get on the right path for lifestyle modification when traditional methods may not have helped them to begin and to sustain if for the long haul. i.e. a overweight person labor of breathing and exercise stamina may be only 5-15 minutes. The dramatic weight loss resulting from the surgery will help mobility and breathing to help them maintain exercise for 20 minutes or longer as time passes and mobility continues to improve. Again, dietary moderation would always need to be observed. I do advocate the lap band as it is the least permanent types of surgery for those who have a clear understanding that this is not a permanent fix but only a tool to assist them for long term behavior changes.

Im scared i might have it but im not sure and i just want to know the estimated time and mabe other facts, Im 14 and my dad has this and ive been peeing all the time lately like every 15 minnutes and 3 times a night but im not thirsty or tired or any other symptoms. Exept this morning i vomited this weird green and black substance that looked like coffee grounds but i thiks all that is bc of the 1200 mg of ibuprofen i take a day bc ive been to the doc and he found no sugar in my urine so he checked my prostate and he thought it was inflamed so he gave me ibuprofen. But please give me an estimated time on the cure based on how research is going. Thanks
im realy scared:(
Well my little brother was diagnoses with type one. He had the same symptoms, he kept peeing like every 15-30 min. This is because the body is trying to get rid of blood sugar. He was never thirsty, or hungry. When we went to a neighbor who was a nurse, she said stick out your tongue, so he did, and he had a white "film" on his tongue. Then our neighbor said to take him to the ER. My little brother had these symptoms from about a week until he went to the hospital. His crab count was 800, 700 more than needed. If I were you, go to the ER, and tell them all of your symptoms, and ask about diabetes. Sadly, there is no cure for type one Diabetes yet. But if you do have type one, and you do not seek medical care soon, you could go into a diabetic coma, this is when your body has to high of levels of carbs, so you go into a coma. the only way to be revived is by a glucagun. It is this big shot to bring down carb levels fast. So go to the ER asap. and until you get there, drink LOTS of water, this brings down carb levels, and eat low carb items. Also check your carb count by using your dad’s meter, he should know how to do that.

I did some research and I cannot find a straight answer…but I guess that high blood sugar levels increase the heart rate. I was wondering why that is…? In a short term perspective.
In high sugar level oxygen uptake by body cells is reduced. To cope this deficiency heart has to beat fast.

How could an individual have high blood sugar levels and also be in a state of ketosis? How/why could this occur?
High blood sugar is a result of not getting enough insulin. The longer you go without enough insulin, the higher your blood sugar gets, until you go into ketoacidosis.
Is this what you mean or are you referring to a low carb diet ketosis?
If you are diabetic, you could end up having both ketones in your urine and high blood sugar at the same time. When you don’t have enough insulin, or your body can use it properly, you end up burning fat instead of sugar. The sugar builds up in your bloodstream, and so do the ketones, so you produce ketones in your urine sample at the same time as you have high blood sugar.
Get tested for diabetes if you haven’t already done so. Ask for an HbA1c test and an Glucose Tolerance Test.
Good luck!
