Just wondering if they can.
* While moderate amounts of alcohol can cause blood sugar to rise, excess alcohol can actually decrease your blood sugar level — sometimes causing it to drop into dangerous levels.
* Beer and sweet wine contain carbohydrates and may raise blood sugar.
* Alcohol stimulates your appetite, which can cause you to overeat and may affect your blood sugar control.
* Alcohol can interfere with the positive effects of oral diabetes medicines or insulin.
* Alcohol may increase triglyceride levels.
* Alcohol may increase blood pressure.
* Alcohol can cause flushing, nausea, increased heart rate, and slurred speech.
most beers, wines and liquors contain HIGH amounts of sugar and carbs. most doctors (like mine) recommend if your going to drink, make sure your sugar is controlled at a good level and u drink a low carb drink i.e. michelob ultra. there are other beers that are specifically targeted for diabetics also.

Ignore the clowns, Molly. If there were actually a definitive "cure", it’s unlikely that they’d be able to keep that secret for very long.
I’m assuming that you realise [realize, if you're one of my American cousins] that not all type 1 diabetics are born with the condition. In fact, it’s comparatively rare to be born with diabetes mellitus.
I doubt, very much, that it’s going to be within the very near future. (I’ve been waiting almost 30 years now since I was told that there was a cure "just around the corner".)
So far, the "cures" that have come about have tended to be short-lived. They tend not to last for very many years. (These include pancreas transplants and islet cell transplants.) However, various ways at changing how islet cell transplantation are still being investigated, and so is stem cell research. Both of these areas look quite promising.
I do hope that you won’t have much longer to wait.
Be well.

So my brother came back from college and my parents found out he has been using his medical marijuana license to buy marijuana for his back pains and his insomnia that almost seems incurable on account of the 15+ different kinds of medications he has tried. He knows his drugs very well and does constant research on what is prescribed to him. Everything but marijuana in his case is dangerous or bad to him. For example: He was prescribed ambien, which he read causes nightmares in his dreams. On other medications, common side effects specifically written on the bottle are seizures and increased diabetes, etc. He has tried all kinds of prescribed drugs that the doctor gives him but he claims that none work, and he is afraid of the side effects that most of the medications are said to give. He says he will give up on the marijuana if he can find something that works. He isn’t using it as of now because my parents are not in favor of him using marijuana. They think he is using it just to get high. What can you guys recommend for my brother to help cure his back pains and his insomnia? He constantly cannot fall asleep night after night. My family is falling apart and I want my family to be together again. Please help my brother. Thanks for reading and I hope to get some helpful answers. No hurtful comments please.
He has also tried other natural substances such as melatonin. I am curious to see what effect kava has on him. Anyway please help. Thank you.
What did they think he was doing with his medical marijuana license?
Wow – that is sorry that a family would fall apart over a little marijuana. How’d he do with his grades?
He needs to explain the savings over not having to buy 15+ types of meds, work with his Dr. and do well in school.

"Pigs from a remote group of islands could hold the key to treating diabetes, doctors believe." – Daily Telegraph, Experimental diabetes treatment will inject humans with pig cells.
"A company trialling an effective cure for type 1 diabetes has provided a clear safety and tolerance review. The company, based in New Zealand, has found a way to transplant functional pig cells that produce insulin into humans." – Diabetes.co.uk, Pig cells and potential diabetes cure found to be safe for humans.
Muslims, pigs (which you regard as being ‘unclean’) hold a key to cure diabetes according to latest medical research, so why did Allah and Muhammad prohibit pigs for consumption and even medical use (I’ll discuss that below) despite Southern-Asians and Mid-easterns – which many are Muslims -are more exposed to Diabetes compared to people of the west? Surely, the Qu’ran promoting the use of medicines and a God who sees the future would of put this cure in a clean animal such as a lamb or cow than ofcourse a un-clean animal like a pig?
I also read something similar regarding this on a Islamic website and they said it’s still un-permissible to use "haram" stuff in medications. According to one of many quotes from the Hadith they’ve put, Muhammad said, "seek medication, O servants of Allah, for Allah never created an illness without creating a cure for it" and "Allah does not put your cure in that which He has forbidden for you." Again, that raises a question what’s begging an answer if you regard this issue.
So Muslims, how’d you respond to this and what do you think of it O.o?!

Dream I’m a Muslim – I see your point but what you what you’re saying still fails to convince me. So what?! That’s in their nature to roll around in their crap. From my point of view, your Allah – being the creator of everything including pigs – creates something, puts something beneficial in it that CAN cure a serious disease and then says it’s haram… wow… Just wow =|!
Dream I’m a Muslim – I see your point but what you what you’re saying still fails to convince me. So what?! That’s in their nature to roll around in their crap. From my point of view, your Allah – being the creator of everything including pigs – creates something, puts something beneficial in it that CAN cure a serious disease and then brings down a prophet to says it’s haram… wow… Just wow =|!
Shape-shifter – I’m not talking about ancient times; I’m talking about our present times ¬¬!
Um Huda – can’t you see the point in my question? I’m not talking about the consumption of pork; I’m talking about the diabetes cure that has been found in pigs. On what you’re saying, however, I think the consumption of pork taken in moderation is perfectly safe. If there was a hazard because of the consumption of pork, I’m sure there would of had a health hazard regarding pork by now in England since it’s a popular food over here.
Alice – No, I’m not a "moron who’s just hating on Muslims." I have Muslims friends who I get along with who understands my views against Islam and I also understand their views that’s against Christianity. This is just a question that I want to see how Muslims respond to since they believe Pork cannot be beneficial when according to Medical Science it is. That’s all.
Carry on hating Christians if you want to. Actually, if that’s the case, you’re as bad as me and infact more bad than me since you’re criticizing and judging people of some religion rather than criticizing and judging the religion of some people.
Sweet as Strawberry – "Seriously get real. Your stupidity is stunning, I for one know I’m not like you , I’m Better than you!"
"If you want eat Pork, then eat it! I’m glad I don’t eat food that was considered food for the poor a century ago!"
Wow! Somebody seems full of themselves today ¬¬! Anyways, you’re just repeating what "Dream I’m a Muslim" said! I know that it’s still in the process but Medical Scientists and Doctors have been doing this research on pigs for almost a decade (fact!), so their must be something to it since it’s been going on for that long which is acceptable to put into consideration; plus, you being the son of a doctor and a intelligent teen, I’m sure you know that Insulin that’s used for treating people with type 1 diabetes is the one that comes from pigs.
"So their might be Alternative for Muslims and Others who don’t eat pork!"…..so it’s better to use the latter than the former O.o?! Wow…. just wow!
Dream I’m a Muslim – you keep saying that! I’m talking about the cure for diabetes what’s found in pigs; not eating pigs. Looks can be deceiving, so don’t try and like their not.
Too bad Mohammad believed in having sex with little girls but didn’t want anyone eating ham.

I’m asking about inulin not inSulin. It’s supposedly a fiber of some sort and I’ve looked it up online but none of the sites have really touched on the topic of blood sugar.
I’ve never heard of Inulin, but if it is fiber it WILL help — slightly.
Fiber in your diet binds with sugars and fats in your diet, and keep them from being digested. The pass through your system and out the other end before they have any effect. PLEASE be aware of the nasty smelling and colorful damage to your clothing that too much fiber and fat in your diet can do to your clothes!!!!
BUT — this effect is sooo small that it is NOT effective for a diabetic. They have blood sugars FAR too high to be helped with a little fiber. They need medications and maybe inSulin.
Fiber in the diet will help a NORMAL person KEEP their blood sugar under control.
But why by something special?? Eat a bowl of Cheerios every morning, and eat Whole Grain breads instead of white bread. This will provide MUCH more fiber, at a much cheaper cost.

I have read on some information on Budwig diet and it indicated that it can sure Type 2 Diabates if strictly followed. Anyone with diabetes has tried this ?
I am just diagonised with diabetes and my first blood test showed fasting sugar of 132 but when I checked with glucometer in a week after the above test it showed 125. I year ago my blood sugar was 98. I am now looking aggressively if I can get my blood sugar below 110.
Also, while I read about Budwig diet I thought it is worth giving it a try. So also want to check if anyone has experience with it. Remember, as some people pointed out that for Budwig diet to be successful, you not only have to take this special diet for few weeks or months depending on how high your sugar levels are, but also have to avoid all non-organic food and other oils, eggs, etc that have lots of saturated fats.
Anyone who has tried it, please chime in with your experience.
I would appreciate answers from anyone who has tried this protocol. Not from people who claim to have "common sense" and so on.
I would appreciate answers from anyone who has tried this protocol.
I’ve heard of the Budwig protocol being used for cancer & I’m sure it’s fine for diabetes but it’s not something you can do for a few weeks & be "cured" of diabetes. It does work because it replaces carbs with good healthy fats but if you end it & go back to carbs, you will regain your health problems.
Dr.Richard Bernstein (the diabetes specialist & a type 1 diabetic) from his book, "Diabetes Solutions" pertinent chapters available to read online -
What if I, a physician, told you, a diabetic, to eat a diet that consisted of 60 percent sugar, 20 percent protein, and 20 percent fat? More than likely, you’d think I was insane. I’d think I was insane, and I would never make this suggestion to a diabetic (nor would I even make it to a nondiabetic). But this is just the diet the ADA recommended to diabetics for decades.
Whether you eat a piece of the nuttiest whole-grain bread, drink a Coke, or have mashed potatoes, the effect on blood glucose levels is essentially the same— blood sugar rises, fast. … our saliva can break starches into the shorter chains on contact and then convert those into pure glucose.
With a number of important exceptions, carbohydrates, or foods derived primarily from plant sources that are starches, grains, and fruits, have the same ultimate effect on blood glucose levels that table sugar does.

All carbs (even vegetables) are converted to sugar (glucose) in the body. Posted below is a fascinating interview with Dr.Richard Bernstein (the diabetes specialist & a type 1 diabetic) on youtube where he demonstrated how whole grain bread turned to glucose within one second in his mouth! He says the exact thing would happen with corn or an apple as well.

Dr. Joe Prendergast, an endocrinologist /diabetologist has managed over 1500 diabetic patients and, in the last decade, not one of his patients has had a stroke or heart attack. Only one has even been hospitalized! His secret—50,000 units of Vitamin D3 daily. Dr. Joe further reports:

SEVEN REASONS TO EAT MORE SATURATED FATS -
1) Improved cardiovascular risk factors
Saturated fat in the diet reduces the levels of lipoprotein (a) abbreviated Lp(a)—that correlates strongly with risk for heart disease. The only dietary means of lowering Lp(a) is eating saturated fat. Eating fats raises the level of HDL, the so-called good cholesterol.
2) Stronger bones
Saturated fat is required for calcium to be incorporated into bone – According to expert in human health, Mary Enig, Ph.D., as much as 50 percent of the fats in the diet should be saturated fats.
3) Improved liver health
Studies show that saturated fat encourages the liver cells to dump fat content. Saturated fat has been shown to protect the liver from the toxic insults of alcohol & medications and even to reverse the damage.
4) Healthy lungs
For proper function, the airspaces of the lungs have to be coated with a thin layer of lung surfactant. The fat content of lung surfactant is 100 percent saturated fatty acids. Replacement of these critical fats by other types of fat makes faulty surfactant & potentially causes breathing difficulties, collapse of the airspaces & respiratory distress.
5) Healthy brain
Your brain is mainly made of fat & cholesterol. Though highly unsaturated essential fatty acids found in cold-water fish (EPA & DHA) are important for brain & nerve function, most of the fatty acids in the brain are actually saturated. The brain needs saturated fats to function optimally.
6) Proper nerve signaling
Certain saturated fats, found in butter, lard, coconut oil, & palm oil, function directly as signaling messengers that influence the metabolism. Without the correct signals to tell the organs & glands what to do, the job gets done improperly.
7) Strong immune system
Saturated fats found in butter & coconut oil (myristic acid & lauric acid) play key roles in immune health. Loss of sufficient saturated fatty acids in the white blood cells hampers their ability to recognize & destroy foreign invaders, such as viruses, bacteria, & fungi. Myristic & lauric acid have potent germ-killing ability. We need dietary replenishment of them to keep the immune system vigilant against the development of cancerous cells & infectious invaders.

Can you cure it by changing your diet, drinking water, exercising, eating a lil heathier?
You are absolutely correct.
Dr. Richard Johnson, MD, U of Colorado has been doing ground breaking research on uric acid and blood pressure. He has found a direct correlation between concentration of uric acid and high blood pressure. Uric acid causes kidney disease.
What causes elevated uric acid? Fructose.
What other damage does fructose cause? He lists elevated cholesterol, fat globules in the liver causing fatty liver disease, elevated triglycerides, dissipation of liver ATP – the energy chemical,
He says that fructose all by itself causes all symptoms of the so called metabolic syndrome, and then diabetes. If you are not afraid of learning a little science, please watch the videos below.
Fructose is the number one source of calories in America. Read the labels. It is in most "foods". Table sugar is 50%, High fructose corn syrup 55%, agave nectar 90% fructose.

I am 17 years old and male. I haven’t been diagnosed with diabetes. I often feel tired, lightheaded and dizzy and want to feel better.
What are some ways to control my blood sugar level naturally to prevent these symptoms?
Please help.
Cheers.
Why are you assuming your symptoms have anything to do with abnormal blood sugar? Light headed and dizzy may have nothing to do with your blood sugar at all.
However, low glycemic level foods can keep your blood sugar stable. Do a Google search for "glycemic index" and include more low GI foods in your diet. If that doesn’t help, then your problems probably aren’t associated with your blood sugar level.
