i just went to my doctor and he said it is a build of fluid behind my eyes caused by the mussels back there.also i have fatigue and have trouble staying awake (falling asleep sitting up). i am going to see a specialist in April but i am just wondering if there is a cure for this or what they are going to do for me.i am worry since i am a diabetic i might lose my eye sight if anyone knows anything i would really appreciate it thanks
The build up in fluid in your eye changes its shape enough to alter the focal point for your vision. Therefore you do not see as sharp as you once did. This will return back to normal some when you gain control of your condition and your body does not have to work over time to flush out excess glucose. To do this you body demands more water intake. The fluids in your body will return to a balanced state.
If you do not control your glucose levels, at high levels the blood vessels can weaken along with other major organs. In the case of your eyes the weaken blood vessels could burst in the back of you eye causing permanent damage to vision receptors. Not checked by controlling glucose levels this could result in blindness over time.
Before I realized I had developed diabetes I found a web site that helped. It focused on power naps. I found it work well for me. But, it was not the real solution. However, there are times when I work 16 hour days. I found it works today for those rare times.
Restful sleep for a diabetic is very important. I do not why, but I have found that doctors do not talk about this enough. I was very fortunate that over two years ago when my condition developed a friend introduced me to a diet supplement that did wonders for me. The first benefit was sleeping through the night and waking up rested. There were other benefits. Contact me and I will share with you. With the supplement I was able to improve my overall health quickly which had a positive effect on controlling by diabetes. I started with a HbA1C of 12.1 and for nearly two years I have been able to hover around 5.6.
Best Wishes.

I would rather have type 1. My rational is that they’re in the stages of human testing for a cure, and if I have Type 1 (I find out Tuesday) then I can get on the medicine and get rid of diabetes. A cure for Type 2 is years, maybe decades away…even if there is one out there.
And "Neither" isn’t an option. If you had a choice between which type of diabetes you have…which one would you choose?
You should check this website out…
http://www.massgeneral.org/diabetes/faculty_faustman.htm
It’s BCG, a medicine they gave to cure TB, but it seems to *CURE* diabetes Type 1 as well.
Medically speaking, it’s always better when your body makes SOME insulin than none, but being surrounded by both, I’d say type 1.
(And I’m quite right in the head Jackie. Your opinion is just that… an opinion.)
We have both in my family. My daughter is type 1. She carb counts and on a pump. She has a certain freedom with food choices. She can eat when she’s hungry, and she doesn’t HAVE to eat when she’s not hungry. If she wants another scoop of (whatever) at dinnertime, she can have it. My mother in law is type 2. She has huge restrictions on her diet. She doesn’t have the same luxury as my daughter.
Many people assume type 1 is worse because of the injections (and in my experience, all non-diabetics assume this). But the bigger picture above far outweighs that. Any type 1 will tell you the injections become second nature over time.
Bottom line though is that they both suck. We look forward to a cure.

curing effect for this problem and if so can you explain the physiology?
at your age with type 2 it is very possible to have erectile disfunction. If so discuss this with your doctor and he will prescribe cilas or something else. I know it is something a guy dont like to admit or discuss . the improved pleasure is well worth it.

Ok’ this has been bugging me for a long time (well since I came down with type 1 diabetes 2 year’s ago) why is it that I will hear that there is a cure time to time for type 1 or type 2 diabetes, then I don’t hear nothing on that topic for a long time .Well I’m going to tell you all my feeling on this and please let me know your’s as well. I personally think that (FDA) has something to do with this… There is 29 mil people now in the unidted states with diabetis, think of how much money just on meds that is for the FDA, pharmaceutical, endocrinologist, educators, and other diabetic medical fields.WOW I know my meds alone cost 500 – 800 a month that’s not including doctors and blab la bla..Sorry I guess I’m just venting the truth.
My feelings are that there is way to much money being made off of diabetes and other diseases and you are not going to see a cure, even if they really find one. They keep dangling the carrot in front of us, but I doubt if we will ever get one. They just tell you about a cure "in the working" every now and then so we think they are still looking for one
Texande2002 ….you are so wrong. Even if you control type 2 with diet and exercise (which many people do) you still have the disease. And usually later in life you have to take meds again. You should go to some educational classes and learn the truth.

I was wondering if the military would still disqualify someone who WAS a type 2 diabetic but lost the weight. Technically they would no longer be diabetic since thier sugars would be in control but since there is no official cure would they still consider you diabetic and deny you?
Hi Superspo,
Good question with practical relevence.
Theoretically you will not be a diabetic type 2 any more. However, the diagnosis will remain on your file.
If the Military likes you they will hire you. If they dislike you they will use that as an excuse. Officailly, they cannot discriminate based on disability.
Good Luck.

Because of type 2 diabetes is one more apt to be atracted to insect bite such as mosquitoes and does it take longer for these to cure. Is there something one can use to prevent this if so what?
Having diabetes does not make you more likely to be bitten or stung by any insect.
However, diabetics have a diminished capacity to fight off infection. Therefore, insect bites would take longer to heal and be more likely to get infected in a diabetic person versus a non-diabetic person.
The best thing you can do is keep your blood glucose under control as much as possible. If you think you may be developing a skin or any other kind of infection, you need prompt medical evaluation.

What is the healthy South Indian diet to cure insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes?
Fiber
The Indian Council of Medical Research suggests a daily intake of 25 to 35 grams of fiber. Fiber helps to naturally reduce glucose levels. In the Indian diet, high fiber foods include things like bran, whole grains, cereal, fresh fruit, dried fruit, raw vegetables, red beans, bean sprouts, mullet preparations, cluster beans, drumstick stems, lotus stems, curry leaves, pomegranate, green chilies, coriander, and cardomon seeds.Introduction to high fiber foods should be done slowly and progressively; increase the amount of fiber by five grams a day until you meet the 35 grams per day limit. Doing so will help you to avoid the feeling of a distended abdomen and problems with flatulence or bowel regularity.
Carbohydrates
The diabetic should consume 65 to 75 percent of daily calories in complex carbohydrates. This will ensure that blood sugar levels remain regulated. Complex carbohydrate consumption helps minimize blood cholesterol triglycerides and also improves digestive processes. Food sources for the diabetic include legumes, rice and whole wheat bread.
Proteins
25 percent of daily calories come from protein. Food sources include soy beans, cheese, chicken, egg whites, fish and leafy green vegetables. A diet that is excessive in protein can have harmful effects on the liver and kidneys, forcing them to work harder.
Channa
Channa dal is a legume that us a common part of the Indian diet; these legumes are revered for their anti-diabetic properties. Channa is fiber-rich and lower blood sugar levels naturally. It also reduces fasting blood sugar levels by thwarting the passage of sugars into the urine; this reduces one’s insulin requirements.
Cholesterol
The Indian diet for type 2 diabetes also recommends lowering cholesterol intake. High levels of cholesterol contribute to cardiovascular disease; no more than 300 milligrams of cholesterol should be eaten daily.Baking, steaming, roasting or grilling foods reduce cholesterol levels, rather than frying them. Consume low-fat or skim milk products instead of whole-milk varieties.

I see so many breakthroughs in regards to other diseases but all I’ve seen in the last 10 years in regards to diabetes is softer lancets and free meters. Why isn’t more being done/spent considering this is becoming a serious epidemic? 800,000 people in the U.S. each year are diagnosed with this disease. It seems like very little attention is given to this disease. I feel forgotten…kind of dispensable. Like it was my fault I became this way. Any constructive thoughts and comments are welcome…maybe more open dialouge would help.
There’s tons of research regarding possible cures for diabetes. If you’re making this statement, pause and go out looking for them–but with better sources. And don’t get too worked up over which celebrity is promoting which cause and assume they are representative of the actual research being done–most of these people only have high school diplomas.
For instance, research Islet cell transplants. Getting them to survive has been quite difficult, but there have been numerous cases where the operation has been performed successfully. Islet cells are transplanted into the liver, and glycemic control is attainted. The surgeon/doctor who perfects this technique is not only going to be rich but extremely famous.
Look at the many new drugs that have come out. Byetta is a perfect example. It’s a fabulous drug that not only controls blood sugar but lowers the appetite and leads to weightloss–thereby increasing insulin sensitivity. And it was designed from nothing less than the venom of the Gilla monster.
As for diabetes, there exists a cure in gastric bypass surgery or gastric banding, both of which lead to cures in 80+% of the people who undergo them. More is involved than more weightloss, however, and doctors and scientists are examining alterations in signaling molecules in the stomach, duodenum, and proximal ileum that result from the procedure.
That said, diabetes is a largely preventable disease. If humans would drop all the processed sugars and stick to vegetables, meats, and fruits, along with regular exercise, there wouldn’t be a diabetes epidemic. There wasn’t one 30 years ago for a reason. Yes, there’s a big genetic component to diabetes, but that can be overcome and has been for centuries. Our modern day surge in diabetes is due to a lifetime of abuse of the human body.
Keep your chin up, and perhaps seek some better sources to keep you informed. Medical journals are far better than the fluff you’re going to get from the mainstream media, which I find uninformed again and again.

A very small study in the States took a dozen newly diagnosed type 2 diabetics and subjected them (they volunteered) to a gruelling diet and exercise regime I thing about 4 of them normalised their sugars.
This was not really a treatment, but a test just to see if it could be done.
In general all you can do is try and stick to your diet, watch your weight and exercise vigorously and frequently, which also lowers your sugar. Diabetes is not yet curable.
