If there were such a study people would probably ignore it. That's the nature of this biz. There's already plenty of help for diabetics, but it's being largely ignored because the big pharmaceutical and medical industries would suffer if word got out and most people won't do what it takes to get healthy... they're too damn lazy and expect doctors to give them a pill that will fix everything. Wake up call time.... medicines don't cure anything, they only reduce the symptoms somewhat. Here's just a small example of what I'm talking about.... I was diagnosed with type 2 in 2004. After a year of trying to deal with it, I got tired of the poor results and sought help (outside of the medical community). I found a couple of books that claimed to help or ever cure diabetes. To make a long story short... In the first week of this month, I had a blood test and the results were amazing. My HbA1C was 5.8 (non-diabetic). However, I've been trying to tell folks the good news for weeks right here in Yahoo Answers and they ignore it believing that their moron doctors know more than someone who's had success with alternative medicine and that I'm probably making this up. The fact is, doctors know precious little about type 2 diabetes. If they knew as much about caring for diabetes as I've learned, the press would get a hold of this news and it would spread like wildfire and hospitals, doctors, and big pharmaceutical corporations would lose tons of money. I've also included some studies on type 1 diabetes on my webpage that might just cut the incidence of that disease a few percent also. But no one listens to me despite the facts I post here..... go figure:

PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO PICK A BEST ANSWER
Even if it isn’t mine.

I don't know the specifics of it but a little girl I babysit for has type 1 diabetes and she's said the same thing that scientists are working for a cure. On the juvenile diabetes website for the juvenile diabetes walk I believe one of the slogans was "A cure will be in our lifetime!"<br><b>References : </b><br>
