Is there anyone out there who has cured him/herself of type 1 diabetes?

Sorry, there is no cure yet for Type 1 diabetes and you cann’t cure yourself, because your pancreas does not work anymore to produce the insulin your body needs, but research "Is Getting Closer".If there was a cure now, I’m sure we would’ve hear about this "Great New Discovery". It would be all over the news on tv and our doctors would’ve told us all about it.
I have, hear on tv recently about something new that their working on that could help only Type 1 diabetics though.Keep Watching & Listening.

Now Type 2 diabetics, their pancreas still produces insulin, but not effectively, they can totally "Control" their diabetes if they will become very ‘Disciplined" with their diet & daily exercise to manage their weight "Management"- Not really a Cure, because if they go back to their old bad eating habits & don’t exercise their blood sugars will sky-rocket. It’s like being in remission, but not a total cure.

Type 1 is an autoimmune disease. There are plenty of people who say they cured it, but if this was a reasonable belief I think that children’s hospitals all over would be utilizing it by now. Have you checked places like… http://www.webmd.com. ? There are great links to articles & research on there. Hope this helps.

From several of the answers it’s obvious that the answerers don’t know the difference between type I and type II diabetes.

Type I diabetes is congenital. You’re born with it. Your pancreas does not work properly from birth or shortly thereafter. It is not curable at this time. I know of no one who has been cured of this type of diabetes.

Type II diabetes AKA adult onset diabetes occurs when your pancreas does not produce sufficient insulin to maintain normal blood glucose levels. This can be caused by being overweight or several other factors. There is also no cure at this time.

Administering insulin will control both types. Diet and exercise also helps.

I do not have diabetes but I think within the next 10 years hopefully the stem cell technology will cure diabetes by producing new cells in the pancreas using stem cells…till then you should look after yourself by all means
