My husband and I tease and call it "Jesus juice" They come out with a new product claiming it cures everything under the sun, and then people desperate to try anything and want a quick fix spend tons of money on it. In a few months no one will even remember the product. I'm sure they have nutritional value so they will help with some things, but you don't get something for nothing. If you truly want to be healthy you have to work hard for it. Don't get me wrong I believe in the medicinal value of herbs and alternatives. I just don't think that anything claiming to be a cure for a high price is your best bet.
References :
I don't know about Acai Berry and Hawthorn. But look into stuff you already eat and have been for our diet for years. Side affects from other drugs might be worse than the blood pressure meds. But I do like to take organic ACV and garlic, things you can add to your diet without noticing. Natural cures take time and more expensive usually, and slight or no side effects.

The berries might not be a scam, but they will cost you. Good luck
References :
My 2 cents worth.

Well, various herbs have been used literally for thousands of years in various parts of the world and people have taken them all that time because of the benefits they give. In that aspect, they are real.

However, as you've pointed out, there are some unscrupulous people that have used the popularity of certain herbs (Acai is an especially big fad right now) to scam people and/or make huge claims that it might only help a small percent of the population with (eg. cancer, weight loss, etc).
As long as you do the research behind the claims that they're making, you'll be best off. You'll probably find the most accurate information at health food stores or established companies that sell a large variety of products and have been selling them for a while (not just "fad" products)... just make sure it's a good quality company.

On those two you mentioned, Acai is a fantastic antioxidant, but that's about it. As an antioxidant, it's good for the immune system and protection of cells, plus it gives energy since it's a fruit. Hawthorn has been proven over centuries to help with cardiovascular health, which can give benefits for blood pressure, circulation, heart health, etc... but that doesn't mean it will cure blood pressure problems. Blood pressure problems are caused by unhealthy lifestyles, medical conditions, improper diet, or several other possibilities... no herb can cover all of those problems (including fixing someone's diet or lifestyle), but it can be a tool in helping someone fix it themselves.

Personally, I've found several herbs and natural supplements that I've found a huge benefit for myself. It's worth a try to get better health. Good luck!
References :
Personal experience and personal research in my role as a Product Specialist for a vitamin company
