Can someone please tell me what to eat with high blood sugar?

I posted about this earlier, I was just discharged from a hospital with blood sugar of 242. I was never diagnosed Diabetic. Well I am home now and I live alone with no meters, nothing.

What should I do? What can I eat or am I screwed? Thanks.

Of course you can eat.
I am diagnosed with Insulin Resistance, which is Pre- Type II Diabetes.
I was told by my doctor not to eat any food with sugar or high in carbohydrates.
It sounds hard,
but believe me, once you get used to it, its not that hard.
Took me a week, Although the carb part is a little more difficult.

Dont drink regular pop, or lattes or coffee with sugar in it.
Read alllll food lables before consuming anything.

If youre going to have something with sugar in it, atleast stay within the 10mg range. No higher than that.

As for carbs, it does turn into sugar. So eat with caution. Use serving sizes.
And try consulting a doctor.
Ask them if you should be on something.
If they dont say much or tell you anything direct;
Get a new doctor.

I’m fifteen, I’m not obese either, I got Insulin Resistance from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (which I also have) because it gives a higher risk of insulin resistance and diabetes when you have PCOS. I was also drinking monster energy drinks every day for one summer. and BOOM! I got hit with the diagnoses.

If this helps, and you need more info, or even just support, contact me:]

The previous poster gave a great answer, but I have to add one thing. You need to buy a meter. You need to check yourself everyday at breakfast and at lunch. You need to record these readings in a log, and you should discuss these readings with your endocrinologist.

They should set up meetings with you, to teach you about diabetes and how to control it. Good luck!
