Does cinnamon really help control blood sugar?

There are studies showing that it can help. Its certianly worth a try. It won’t make huge differences, but it might make enough difference to help get your numbers down where you need them to be. Do NOT rely on cinnamon when you need metformin or insulin. It can’t replace them.

Studies say it can. They say you can take it in pill form or eat it on foods. I’m diabetic and try to use it. I drink hot tea, use it in foods too. Ask your Doctor, they may have more info on it. Good luck.

It probably depends on your body’s reaction to it. It has really helped mine the times I use it. I used to go very high after breakfast so I started eating cinnamon bread and that helped.

There is some research to show it can help keep blood glucose lower, but because the research doesn’t get real detailed we can’t really say it can "control" blood sugar.

It’s not a bad idea to add it to your diet (I believe the research studied a small amount like 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon a day–You’ll need to check on the precise amount), but don’t eliminate basic healthy eating, exercise, and oral medication because those things will make the biggest difference.

No. If you are type 1 and need insulin no affect at all. If you are type 2 and your bg levels are only slightly elevated, it might bring them down a hair. Why would some spice that cost <1 in a store be the cure-all for one of the top killers in the medical world? This story runs rampant on the internet, and part of the problem is that basically no 2 diabetics are exactly alike. So the ones who say it works for them probably aren’t having much problem producing insulin to begin with.
