Does too much stress can cause high blood sugar in 24 yrs old girl?My niece is in hospital since last night.Doctor found out very high blood sugar in her blood. She never had this problem before but we do have family history of diabetes.Does it means she could have diabetes at this age too?

If her glucose levels are elevated it means she is a diabetic. You can get it at any age for many reasons. I ‘ve been diabetic since I was 17 do to a very chronic throat infection I did not get treated for. I was also already predisposed to it cause it runs in the family.

If you are not a diabetic stress should not affect your blood sugar, but once you are a diabetic stress could affect it.

Yeah, it’s diabetes. Stress alone doesn’t make your sugar high.

once ur blood sugar is high reaching the diagnostic level of DM the patient will be labeled as diabetic (one reading is enough)
u r saying it was too high so most probably it reached that level ……. sorry ur niece is diabetic
or she could be an impaired blood sugar which is a reading in between i mean not normal and not diagnostic of DM and this is unlikely bcz u said her blood sugar was VERY high
STRESS is just a factor, it can help and trigger but not cause DM why? bcz simply DM is multifactorial u require genitics, environmental….etc
about age people can have DM at any age but 24 year is not a common age for DM usually younger ppl 7-15 have the type 1 and older ppl at 40ts and 50ts have type 2
