control by pills only – i can not and will not take needles – i would rather die before i take needles.

Hi,

I suggest that you take drastic diet changes if you don’t want to be on medication.

In his book Dr. Barnard’s Program for Reversing Diabetes, he talks about diet changes that can reduce the need for medications. Many of his patients that praticipated in a study where able to reduce both weight and medication levels over a 3 month time.

Also consider reading The PH Miracle for Diabetes by Dr. Young. Both are at Amazon.com and other book stores. Dr. Young writes that soft drinks are extreemly acidic, and so are many other things such as coffee, and many of the common foods that we eat. Being more acidic makes your insulin less efective, and becoming more alkaline makes the insulin more efficient.

If you don’t start to change your diet and take your medication, then your sugar levels are likely to get worse, not better. As you already know, high sugar levels lead to becoming very sleepy, and many other bad things.

Start to eat more vegetables, fruits, and try eating oatmeal with 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon for breakfast. Avoid eating meats with each meal, and reduce milk products too. Stop eating all cheese for at least a month. Then only moderate amounts of cheese for the next couple of months. So a little cheese as a flavoring to a burrito or taco is OK, but avoid slices of cheese on crackers.

Stop eating eggs for a month too. Of course avoid concentrated sugars, such as cookies, ice cream, dried fruits, nuts, soft drinks.

Good Luck!

Hopefully you will be able to get your numbers closer to the normal range in the next 3-4 months, when you get your next A1C checked. If not then you may need to have your medication adjusted.

My brother was hospitalized least month because his sugar shot up to 500, he’s on 4 shots a day, type 1. He got it bad. But anyway, it took like 2-3 weeks for him to finally level out, he would go down to the 100s, then eat anything simple, like carrots with ranch, and he would shoot to 300s. anyway, after a couple weeks it went down to around 100 where it’s stayed. But of course everyone’s body is different, so you can’t really quess.

Don’t worry, with those numbers you will not have to worry about needles, or any thing else for that matter, at least for long!

Good luck with the death and needles thing. It took 4 days to adjust my sugar Level down from 645 to 130 getting 2 shots a day . I now take 2 shots a day and average 156.before going on insulin shots I took metformen twice a day but it couldn’t keep up so had to go on shots. Its not like being a junky .I hated it at first too but now it’s nothing. You will do it dying’s not that cool!

You may have unconsciously named your future. With blood sugar as high as yours you might very well die without insulin injections. I didn’t think quite as strongly as you about needles but I know of no one who thought they would be able to inject themselves before they were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. From the first day I was told I needed to do it, I did it and was glad to be able to do so. I was in the hospital at the time where the medical crew was in awe over the fact that I was still "with" them. They had brought my blood sugar down from 700+ to manageable levels and got me started on insulin therapy. The needles are tiny and you don’t feel a thing. Change your thinking, please. There are most likely a lot of people that love you and really don’t want to see you "check out" over something as trivial as a fear of needles!

Well if your sugar levels have not gone down after a few days on pills then I guess you’re going to die. Honestly, would you rather die a long slow miserable death with lots of health problems than take a shot of insulin? If your numbers are consistently high then work with your endocrinologist closely to get the numbers down. If you are going to a general practicioner you MUST see a endocrinologist. Endocrinologists have more education and specialize in diabetes treatment. Your endo may adjust or change your medication. If the endo say insulin, then suck it up and take the shot. You’ll feel much better all over when your numbers are within normal limits. There is also a method in which you insert a little catherter like thing into your abdoment to take the needles so that it doesn’t hurt (it’s the same infusion set that insulin pump users have, it’s not a permanent thing). Diabetes is manageable, but you have to take proper steps to manage it. If you keep doing the same thing every day, you will get the same results. If your numbers are high when you take pills, there’s little chance that anything will change with the medication. Have you tried a low carb diet without any concentrated sweets?

I have found that water is a great giver ! Drink alot of it , And I mean
alot , it washes away things in your body , and tends to bring
the sugar down , it has for me , walking , is also a good idea
it will not only help the BS , it will clear the mind , and may very
well bring weight loss if needed ..
I cannot stress enough about the water , try it , it does cleanse .

You are not being practical! Why should you not take insulin injection if this is the only way to control your blood sugar at the moment? If you are diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic and your sugars are quite too high, your doctor would advise you to take insulin injection until such time that your sugar will be under control. After that, you could take again the pills. The needles are just temporary measures to bring quite effectively your high sugar level to manageable ranges so that no complications could take place. You want to die of kidney failure or heart attack or worst dying being blind already? It is your choice though. Good luck.

Really? You would rather die than use a needle? wow that’s pretty impressive. you would actually choose to die a painful and horible long death (aka Keytone acidosis) than to stick a itity bitty surgical steel tube in your leg, arm or butt. That’s freaking AWSOME.
Really wish more people thought like you. Give them a little tiny challenge and they would rather DIE than answer it.
Good Luck Monkey. People want to know whats wrong with the world…LAZY jacked up idiots. If life is painful I would rather die….babies. Well suit your self. I’ll keep jacking insulin in my system and eat whatever the fuck I want. Idiot.
