i went to da doctor today, he siad my sugar blood level is high. im thirty weeks pregnant, he said not to eat bread avoid anything with sugar. and eat only 6 carbs a day. what exactly can i eat?? and does anyone have a specific food plan i can follow to lower my sugar level?

I had gestational diabetes and it was managed well with diet and weekly prenatal appointments. The nutritionist set me up on a 30-60-60 plan. Typical breakfast was egg and cheese on two pieces of bread, bread being 15 car bs a piece which totaled 30. Lunch was grilled chicken salad with bread and a small brownie, normally totaling 50 carbs. Dinner would be something like a sandwich, plenty of veggies and a ice cream bar. I normally did not eat snacks but acceptable snacks are on 2 graham cracker sheets and peanut butter. Two carbs and one protein helps curb hunger. I think you and the baby definitely need more carbs than six. My nutritionist advised me it was ok to have peanut m and m’s not in excess.Ask your doctor if he can refer you to a nutritionist. As long as you count your carbs and monitor blood sugar you should be fine. Good luck to you and your little one.

6 carbs a day!! woah! What were your #’s I just got my diabetes screen yesterday ( my first number before the sugar drink was 92 which the lady said was good.. i’m quite nervous though.) I would ask to speak with a dietitian about good food choices. I’m the most shocked about the 6 carb a day thing. My baby books said we need over 100 a day.
