blood sugar control

Is it true if a diabetic drinks a glass of wine wine everyday that it will help control your blood sugar ?

No!

Mainly because Wine has a lot of sugar in it. Diabetics should not even drink it. I mean they can, if they want, but they shouldn’t take in so much at a time or on a daily basis, or their BSL WILL spike!

Wow, no way! I’ve known diabetics who drank a glass of wine every day and it worked out OK, but only because they found out through trial and error what to do to keep their blood sugar from spiking and then crashing – an effect of any alcoholic beverage. An occasional drink won’t kill you, but you need to keep an eye on your blood sugar afterwards. I only have a margarita once or twice a month. Too much hassle to drink any more than that.

Actually, yes, it can. Studies have shown that it can improve blood sugar levels, but you need to so some research on what types of red wine and how much, and you should monitor with your meter to see if it works for you or not. It can lower blood sugar too much, as can any alcohol, so proceed with caution and talk to your doctor and diabetes dietician first.

No, there is too much sugar in it. But they say it could help prevent certain types of heart disease.
