Online Diabetic Resources

For someone with diabetes, or anyone that want to better understand what diabetes means for the people that have it, it can be difficult to know how to get the facts. There is some misleading information out there, and the last thing you want is extra unnecessary confusion. Also, the conventional outlets for information, such as a doctor, may not be what you’re looking for – preferring instead to know how people who have the condition feel.

The internet has the potential necessary to get just this kind of expansive information on diabetes. One of the top sites for this is Diabetes UK online. It’s clear and accurate in the information it offers. It’s basically a site filled with information and links on whatever you might need to know about diabetes. Also there’s the chance to contact the site, or other people suffering form the condition, meaning a more personal approach.

For young children, teenagers or young adults the My Life websites are a great way of sharing support, as well as learning more about the condition. There are three distinct sites, each aimed at a different age group. The youngest section has simple games with an easy interface, so that you can leave a small child to explore things without help, and find out about their condition on their own in simple language.

My Life also has a section for teenagers and young adults. Now, for teenagers it might seem a bit pointless guiding them towards the web, as they’re most-likely pretty adept at finding things for themselves. There are some useful facts though, and the potential to contribute to message boards. Perhaps they might find some useful stuff on facebook too, as there are groups for just about everything. For young adults the travel section of My Life has some essential reading for any gap-year adventurers.

For anyone that needs a bit of extra data on diabetes the internet is undeniably a benefit. Whatever the depth of information you want to research you will be able to get what you want to know from somewhere. It’s not all dry data either – there’s the odd bit of diabetes-centric humour, such as ‘Islets of humour.’ It’s a bit hit and miss, but some of the jokes are spot on for what they’re talking about.

Keep up to date with diabetic news.
