    I don’t have …
I don’t have Diabetes but I think this show was the ONLY episode of this show I can relate to. It was like watching myself at 21. I was depressed.I had no friends. My family worried about me. Kids rejected me as a kid. I got stood up a lot by “friends” who wanted to hang. I bet money kids picked on him when he was little & probably called him named that rhymed with rag. Basically, I just wanted to give him a huge hug and tell him it’s okay.

    Also, don’t count …
Also, don’t count on a cure for this disease. There’s way too much money in its so called care. Diabetics need to realize this disease is only controllable with the self willingness to control it. No two people are alike, so how could you generalize care for it? Through realizing this, Diabetes has actually given me the appreciation for life that many don’t have.

    I love how the …
I love how the father says.. “easy to control” – what a douche bag. Is it easy to one day be forced to walk a tight rope for the rest of your life? Being conscious of your blood sugar all day, everyday is overwhelming no matter how you look at it. I’ve had type 1 for 23 years and i’m constantly adjusting everyday. Sadly, most parents can’t understand the mental and physical stress ociated. Keep your fat mouth shut dad and be part of a solution.

i thought intervention was about addiction. what place does a type 1 diabetic who doesn’t want to take his insulin have on intervention?

    John’s intervention …
John’s intervention was one of the most memorable for me because I can relate to him so much. There aren’t that many people out there like us (social misfits). I always think back to his intervention when I’m feeling down.

    Also there’s more …
Also there’s more funding for all sorts of minor diseases and ailments, facelifts, fat sucking, etc etc but the research on Diabetes is constantly slowed due to disinterest and just aimed towards profit so that good insulin is just put off the market because profit was not good enough. the test strips payment by the insurance is limited to 4/day, I had to fight to get 6 and pay for the rest. It’s no easy life and survival of the fittest and richest

    ignorance from the …
ignorance from the majority of people. I lead a busy and independent and generaly successful life and try my very best to have it perfectly under control. It doesn’t always work, sometimes it is just off for no apparent reason, just messed up by stress or something. There’s this constant fear of becoming blind, etc that hangs like a Damocles sword above me. And if I trust in someone telling them about my fears they are just annoyed with this attitude “who cares? what’s about Diabetes? so what?”
