What tests do they need to run to know if you’ve got high blood sugar?
is it just taking out blood? Someone told me theyd have to give me glucose to test how your body reacts to it. My question is when you go to the doctors, what tests do they need to do to know if uve got high blood sugar? thanks
The most common test is a fasting blood glucose test. That tells you how much glucose (sugar) is in your blood when you have not eaten. It diabetics that would typically be elevated. They also may to a haemoglobin A1C test. This is a test that gives an indication of if your blood glucose has been elevated in the past few months. If they suspect that you are a borderline diabetic, they may give you a glucose stress test. That is the test to which you are alluding. That is they give you a syrupy drink to consume and then see if that will raise your blood glucose above normal levels.
